In January 2017, we made a painting reconstruction for our TAH course Laboratories of Art. We only had four days, so we needed to choose something small that still had enough variety to challenge us. Our professor, Dr. Abbie Vandivere chose a detail from a Rijksmuseum painting by Cornelis Engebrechtsz, Christ’s Second Visit to the House of Mary and Martha (c. 1515-1520). We focused on the rich garments of Mary Magdalene, and also added a green curtain to her left so that we could test out some green verdigris pigment that Abbie had made herself.
